OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will celebrate Black fathers with a new installment of OWN Spotlight: They Call Me Dad.
The one-hour special will include profiles of four Black fathers as they detail the joys and fears that come with being a dad, while also shifting the narrative on Black fatherhood.
This latest special features celebrity chef G. Garvin; NAACP Image Award nominated actor Glynn Turman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Queen Sugar); rapper and singer Tobe Nwigwe; and journalist/activist Bakari Sellers.
Executive produced by Oji Singletary and Critical Content, the special will also include everyday fathers who share their unique parenting styles and explore the different roles that an involved father plays in a child’s life.
OWN’s 2020 Black fatherhood special featured Bishop T.D. Jakes; two-time Super Bowl champion Malcolm Jenkins; DJ and social media influencer D-Nice; and Grammy Award-winning recording artists Anthony Hamilton and Kirk Franklin.
OWN Spotlight: They Call Me Dad returns on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT (immediately after Queen Sugar).
